Drought monitor has improved to D0, dry, consistent with more snow and rain lately. Maple and related trees (boxelder) have had a prolific sap run, and I pulled taps only because I had more sap than I could deal with -- they are still running great! We still have a long-term deficit, with very low swamps and low-for-spring lake levels. Starting to see some water in wetlands, but much less than optimal for beavers and related wildlife. Temps have been a roller coaster, it was 70 today after a cold snap and snowfall over several days. Snowpack is gone, lakes remain fully iced over. Bird migration is evident, with new arrivals daily. Fire danger is moderate, with red flags to our south. burning is restricted.
