Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: CO-BO-596
Station Name: Boulder 1.9 SE
Report Date: 4/12/2026
Submitted: 4/12/2026 2:34 PM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
We are ? of the way into one of the wettest months of the year and have received only 0.16” of precip this month, 16% of normal. It’s been super dry for months: we’ve received 1.85” of precipitation so far this calendar year, 45% of normal. 3.33” so far this water year, 47% of normal. Lawns in the neighborhood which haven’t started irrigation look horrible—dry, yellow, dusty, eroding. Flowers in wild areas are subdued and early, while some more mesic forbs have not shown up and or are not blooming. Wildflowers bloom early, end inflorescence faster, and everything is smaller and reduced in extent.

In my yard, my raingarden is dry to a very deep level, which is very unusual.

Many Front Range cities are issuing watering restrictions. Boulder, with its copious water rights, is on drought watch and asking for voluntary reductions.

There have been a couple of small fires in the Boulder foothills, unusual for this time of year.

The canal from South Boulder Creek to fill Baseline Reservoir has been running steadily; it seems that there is a decent amount of demand on that reservoir from Louisville and Lafayette.
