Station Number: NC-DH-48
Station Name: Durham 4.5 N
Report Date: 4/7/2026
Submitted: 4/06/2026 8:59 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
While we received 0.37 inches yesterday, the total amount of precipitation is still low compared to our averages. The ground was damp before this past rain event in shaded areas but cracks were showing in areas that receive a lot of sunshine. Last month's rainfall amount measured 1.59 inches; about 38% of average.

The vegetation is not displaying any signs of dry conditions but the temperatures have not been high enough to dry the soil out.

The Red-wing Blackbirds have left the area. Some Starlings and Grackles have remained and the Red-Wing Blackbirds have flocked with them during the winter months. A number of Sparrows are still in the area. A Blue Bird pair have laid a clutch of 4 eggs about 5 days ago. There are reports of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds in the area but we have not seen any visit our feeder.
