Since mid August last year when the current drought began, we have had a little over 13" of rain which puts us 20" below normal. I fear that if something doesn't change in the weather patterns that we will have a summer drought of historic proportions. For now, the soil moisture is not too bad but getting drier each day. Over the weekend I was talking to the fellow who rents my pastures and he mentioned that he was planning to buy more livestock. I suggested that he be very cautious about that lest we not enough grass to feed the current herd, much less buying more.
