Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MS-CH-3
Station Name: Clarksdale 2.9 SW
Report Date: 4/6/2026
Submitted: 4/05/2026 9:09 PM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
Weekly precip was 0.40 inches. Highs:80,85,87,86,84,88,78. Lows:39,65,66,67,69,70,59. Dry conditions with lots of planting completed this past week. We were anticipating some decent rainfall on Saturday and even the days leading up to Saturday, but it did not rain at all until Saturday and then a much lesser amount compared to what we were hoping for. Not sure if the 4 tenths of rain that fell were enough to germinate our beans or not. It could be just enough to cause them to swell but not germinate which would be bad (no rain forecast in the near future again). That moisture was all but gone already by this Easter Sunday afternoon. This is by far the driest I have ever seen it this time of year (very warm, windy and sunny conditions are helping to keep it that way). We did get our corn up to a perfect stand without a rain (planted 2 inches deep or better). Trees have greened up quickly over the past week with plenty of pollen to go around. Also noticed while planting this past week that we have cracks in the ground where there are weeds in the fields. With the growing season now underway, the lack of rain could quickly become a major problem.
