Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: KS-LN-6
Station Name: Blue Mound 5.1 N
Report Date: 3/27/2026
Submitted: 3/27/2026 7:52 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
For Jan-Mar of 2026, we are at or above average for rainfall based on long term averages. So... why are things so dry? Two factors: 1) Oct-Dec of 2025 were a total of 2.72" below average, and 2) HEAT - crazy HEAT - we've had multiple days in a row above 90 in early March and one day at 96 degrees. Monthly average rainfall for Jan-Mar just can't handle the evaporation that comes with mid 90s and wind. I recently tilled the soil down to 7" deep and every thing is very dry - never seen a March like this. Winter crops were frozen by a hard freeze in February followed by 1" of snow, then came the HEAT. Until we get some heavy rains to make up for #1/#2 points above, we're really droughty.
