With 2.12” of rain this week on top of the end of the snowpack melt off, conditions are now mildly wet for March. This week the Pascoag Reservoir also completely melted and went from ice on 90% of the lake to completely gone. Hiking trails at Sprague Farm and George Washington state park are very wet. Many places that are normally dry required detours off the trail to get around standing and/or running water. Summer birds are beginning to return with sightings of robins, red winged blackbirds and gold finches over the last few days. Fire danger at George Washington state park is still posted as Low.
