For the month of March, no rain has fallen yet, for the calendar year 6.47" and for the water year 10.32". Water balance (rain minus evapotranspiration) is -5.03" for the water year. The land is now drying out with weeds going to seed and mowing to comply with fire clearance code is underway early this year. Mowing for fire code (100'clearance from structures) is usually done in late April and May. The daily high temperatures have been on the high side (70's and high 80's) for most of the month of March. Sunny and clear days have been the rule. As a result, the season for wildlife has been moved to March rather than April or May. The wet season vegies (Spinach, Lettuce and Kale) are going to seed but the tomatoes are three feet tall with numerous blooms. Hopefully we will get some rain in April!
