Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: CAN-ON-771
Station Name: Kenora 8.7 NNE - CANWARN
Report Date: 3/16/2026
Submitted: 3/16/2026 11:39 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Conditions colder with fresh snow this past week. Snowpack is 38cm, or 15” deep, higher than the climate normal for March (24cm). Water and sewage infrastructure remains well-insulated, and we had no issues from an extended absence this winter. Ski conditions are excellent at on both the Nordic trails and downhill club. Packed walking trails through the bush are good for walking. Snowshoeing on the fresh snow on the lake was a challenge with occasional break through the crust below the fresh snow, from previous thaw/refreeze, and some slush. There was very little snowmachine activity on the ice this past week. Crows heard this weekend - the first spring arrival. Temperatures are forecasted above freezing for this week. Feels like a typical March pre-equinox.
