We’ve gotten some precipitation since my last observation, so upgrading to moderately dry from severely dry. 0.85” March to date, 98% of avg. 1.68” calendar yr to date, 73% of avg. 3.16” water yr to date, 60% of avg. The soil is dry, and I will be doing more winter watering of trees and shrubs this week. We have had much warmer than usual temperatures and a great deal of wind, drying out the soil. Lawns look horrible. Things are starting to leaf out. Both planted flowers and wildflowers in public lands are blooming early. Thornton and Denver, which have both had more precip than we have, have issued watering restrictions—in March!
