Maintaining Moderately Dry condition. Snow over the past 2 weeks has helped, although today's snow was only 0.01" of SWE. PRISM SWE for MTD is 113%, YTD is 77% and WYTD is 63%. We still have a way to go until we make up the long-term deficit. Deciduous plants are still dormant so hard to gauge their health. Snowpack SWE in my area is still low, 67% 6-Digit HUC and 74% 8-Digit HUC. River flows by the gauges are at or just above average for this date. High winds the past few days has had a desiccating effect on soil moisture. The national park has gone to Stage 2 fire restrictions this week mostly due to the high winds and fire watch conditions. Fire Weather Warning has been removed since yesterday. No other new fire restrictions have been put in place in my area. Deer are browsing on the ponderosa pine needles, which is common this time of year when other browse is getting scarce. There is still enough snow in the high country for most winter activities. I have not been up to Hidden Valley sledding area so I cannot comment on that this week.
