We received one and a quarter inches of rain this past week which greatly helped our dry conditions. However, even with that much rain the county ordered a new 90-day burn ban effective this morning (3/14/26). That order replaces the 90-day order in effect since December 22, 2025. The Llano River surged with the rain, but has since dropped. The USGS reports the river at Hwy 87 is flowing at 97 cfs vs. the 54-year median of 160 cfs. Wildflowers are beginning to blossom and we have observed bluebonnets along the roads. Some trees (such as red buds) are blooming and grasses are beginning to grow. Amazingly, the drought index continues to be unchanged for the county.
