For the week ending 14 March 2026: No significant precipitation this past week. A forecast weather event promising to deliver 6 to 20 mm SWE failed to materialize: we received just 0.3 mm. (This makes me wonder if we are receiving forecasts that apply mainly to the higher elevations and mountain passes.) Wildlife: Our village elk herd and deer remain active. Wild turkeys, Canada Geese, ravens, crows, flickers, chickadees, and finches are active. We think we observed a couple of mountain bluebirds as well. Highlight of the Week: a heron hanging out near our ferry departure ramp on the Kootenay River. Hiking remains easy. PHOTOS: Taken earlier today. The first image is captured near my CoCoRaHS CAN-BC-100 gauge set-up, facing 130º SE. The second image faces 50º NE, along our East Gardens fence. The third image faces 290º West along our laneway. The fourth image faces about 250º SW toward our solar panel installation.
