Description:
Week of (3/1/26-3/7/26) observed more precipitation compared to last week. The precipitation observed during this week was 0.69 inches of precipitation. The amount of precipitation measured was more than the last update of 0.50 inches of precipitation for the previous week of (2/22/26-2/28/26). There was 0.69 inches of precipitation that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of March compared to the normal climatology precipitation at KROC airport for the month is 0.56 inches of precipitation. There was 0.2 inches of snowfall measured for the week of 3/1/26-3/7/26. There was 0.2 inches of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 so far for the month of March compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 5.5 inches. Conditions have remained the same since the last update from last week with the area seeing some beneficial and measurable precipitation in the form of liquid and frozen precipitation over this past week. The area is currently considered moderately dry (Moderate Drought) which has remained the same (unchanged) since the last update due despite the area receiving beneficial rain and snow precipitation. The sump pump has been pumping periodically during the week due to the ground becoming unfrozen and melting of snowpack occurring with some days during the week due to mild air invading the environment a couple days this week to allow for above freezing temperatures this week to allow for melting of the snowpack to infiltrate into the ground and the mild air in the environment arriving late Friday is allowing the remainder of the frozen precipitation sitting on the ground last week and several weeks prior (no snowpack currently on the ground other than piles in shaded areas before Saturday morning, but all melted away by Saturday afternoon) to melt and infiltrate into the ground. Outdoor activities have been good for walking outside with some mild air in the environment late week and no shoveling of snow had taken place due to very little snow accumulation this week accumulating before melting occurred and a nice one day warmup for Saturday with temperatures reaching into the low 70s. Furnace has been working about the same to heat the house due to the mild air and some days with above average temperatures the area has been experiencing in the week, but was given a nice break Saturday afternoon with temperatures warming into the low 70s. The warmup on Saturday this week allowed for the yard to be cleaned up from winter by cleaning up down branches and trimming dead dogwood branches despite the ground being very muddy with all the snowpack melting and rain falling. So far, the total precipitation for the month of March is currently above average and total snowfall is currently below average.
