2025 ended with Oct/Nov/Dec almost 3 inches below normal in total. 2026 has shown improvement in overall rainfall, with Jan/Feb being 1.8" above normal for the two months, and March looking like we will have above normal rains. The ponds that went almost dry, some of which had never been observed that low in the past decade, are now recovering. Hopeful that this Spring continues to give above average rainfall and fill up our ponds/lakes and other waterways. Wildlife - early migrants are starting to return to Kansas. I don't have enought historical data to prove this, but the fly-catchers are returning early in my opinion. Late Feb and early March have been unseasonably warm and I believe that is driving the early migration of many birds in general. Agriculture - winter crops like wheat and other feed dealt with the end of 2025 ok, and are now looking fantastic with the additional rains.
