Well now… that was some storm, and not just because of the damage and power outages. The amount of moisture was spectacular – in the preceding seven days, this station recorded 3.84” of water equivalent. This pushes total February catch to 5.07”, which is 137% of PRISM average. This takes us to 115% of PRISM for the water YTD. Presume that a lot of wildlife has been hunkered down; haven’t seen much activity other than birds on the feeders and squirrels scavenging below. Pond level is presumably normal or slightly above, but haven’t been able to access my observation areas. Recent warm days and sunshine have been doing a good job of reducing the snowpack, but plowbanks and drifts are going to be with us for a while.
