Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-HY-30
Station Name: Colona 0.5 ESE
Report Date: 2/22/2026
Submitted: 2/22/2026 7:41 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Finally broke the absence of precipitation for February with 0.41" of rain/snow gauge catch mix from a thunderstorm that changed over to snow on Thursday into Friday. Ground was soft due to recent warm weather which allowed the rain to soak in. Even with that nice shot of rain, all categories are way below NOAA Norm. The warm conditions did allow the ice sheets to melt on the area rivers. Fortunately, there was no problem of ice jams on the Rock River. Mississippi River is ice free except for the back waters. A chance for snow forecast for mid-week. After a chilly start to the week, temps are to rise to highs in the mid to upper 40's. For now, going to keep conditions at Mildly Dry and get through the month of February.
