A long, slow rain last Saturday helped out with the current dry conditions a great deal and the drought index remains unchanged from last week. But, we still have a calendar year deficit of 1.3 inches. This is our driest time of year and we have received only 51% of our average rainfall (1.34 vs. 2.61 inches). Grasses throughout the county are dry and few forbs are visible. Trees are still mostly dormant. The USGS reports the Llano River is still near record lows. The flow rate at Hwy 87 is 74 cfs vs the 53-year median of 168 cfs, the 25th percentile of 113 cfs, and the record low of 60 cfs. We continue to be under a 90-day burn ban effective 12/22/2025.
