Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MA-BE-36
Station Name: Cheshire 2.6 N
Report Date: 2/15/2026
Submitted: 2/15/2026 3:42 PM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
With a total of 0.22 inches of liquid equivalent precipitation for the week, we remain well below average for the month and below average for the year. But below average temperatures have left 13 inches of snowpack, so conditions appear near normal for mid February. Deep snow in the woods give the deer, with their long legs, an advantage over the coyotes. I haven't yet found any deer kills. The deep snow continues to inhibit wildlife activity. The deer are mostly sticking to well used feeding areas where they paw through the snow for acorns. Brooks and streams are starting to emerge from beneath the snow. Warm temperatures and bright sunshine today have brought out snomobiles, skiers, snowshoers, hikers and fat tire bikers on Mt Greylock trails.
