Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: CO-LR-1272
Station Name: Estes Park 1.7 SW
Report Date: 2/15/2026
Submitted: 2/15/2026 11:07 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
I am keeping Condition Scale Bar at Severely Dry. I have gotten 0.22" of moisture over the past 7 days which is a help but no nearly enough. Precipitation Normals (PRISM) are: MTD 51%, YTD is 50%, and WYTD is 51%. SWE of current snowpack is 55% of Median for my 6-Digit HUC and 68% of Median for my 8-Digit HUC. The only stream gauge reporting right now (BTBMORCO) is registering much closer to Historical Average than last week but still below at approx 81% by Daily Average. Landscape still looks pretty dry with only a smattering of snowpack around in more protected locations. The wind continues at around 20mph average which dries the landscape out. Birds continue to use the birdbath for water. Saw evidence of coyotes around the house yesterday morning in the fresh snow. Also rabbit tracks but no blood or fur anywhere to indicate a successful hunt. Deer are still in the neighborhood but have not seen elk in quite some time. Sledding hill at Hidden Valley in the park was nearly bare and not suitable for sledding prior to 4 days ago. I have not been up there since but there is no previous snowpack so not good. Other trails in the park are passable although X-C Skiing on this side of the divide are very dependent upon elevation and exposure and generally not good. No new fire restrictions. Still very concerned about long term water availability for the summer with such a low snowpack. However, most of our snow comes in March and April so there is still time to recover.
