Just over an inch of precipitation puts February at only 17% of normal. However, Water Year stands at 108% of normal, with a rainy week ahead. Between November 26 and February 15, there has been 54 days out of 80 with no precipitation. But had to cut the grass and weeds this week, and CalTrans was out cutting the grass already along Highway 101. High for the week averaged 55.6f, low 44.2f. Ruth Lake Reservoir on 2/12 was at 99%. The rivers remain low and cold, but with coming rain, should pick up. This coming Saturday Blue Lake will host the Redwood Coast Mountain Bike Association's Mad Scramble Cyclocross, with events for adults and children, rain, shine and mud. They call it a "dead of winter bike party." Flowers from apple trees, Scotch broom, daffodils, dandelions and willows adding color to the midwinter days. Tuesday is an unusual triple header--new moon, Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year. Have fun.
