Description:
Week of (2/8/26-2/14/26) observed more precipitation compared to last week. The precipitation observed during this week was 0.21 inches of precipitation. The amount of precipitation measured was less than the last update of 0.14 inches of precipitation for the previous week of (2/1/26-2/7/26). There was 0.35 inches of precipitation that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of February compared to the normal climatology precipitation at KROC airport for the month is 1.02 inches of precipitation. There was 6.9 inches of snowfall measured for the week of 2/8/26-2/14/26. There was 15.1 inches of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 so far for the month of February compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 11.6 inches. Conditions have remained the same since the last update from last week with the area seeing some beneficial and measurable precipitation in the form of liquid and frozen precipitation over this past week. The area is currently considered moderately dry (Moderate Drought) which has remained the same (unchanged) since the last update due despite the area receiving beneficial rain and snow precipitation. The sump pump has stopped pumping periodically due to the ground becoming frozen due to cold air invading the environment most of this week except for one day above freezing this week to allow for limited melting to infiltrate into the ground and the cold air lingering in the environment most of the week is not allowing the frozen precipitation sitting on the ground (near a foot of snowpack currently on the ground) to melt and infiltrate into the ground. Outdoor activities and shoveling snow have been OK due to no dangerous windchill values and very cold sub-zero temperatures invading the environment this week compared to last week. Furnace has been working overtime heating the house due to the very cold and well below average temperatures the area has been experiencing over the past couple of weeks. So far, February’s precipitation is currently below average and snowfall currently is above average.
