Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MT-RV-18
Station Name: Hamilton 9.2 SSW
Report Date: 2/8/2026
Submitted: 2/08/2026 8:35 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
The drought here depends on your time frame. For the water year, normal to above normal precip because of the very wet Oct-Dec period (although most of that fell as rain, not snow). In the short term, it is extremely dry, with no measurable precip in the past 31 days. And temps have mostly been way above normal. We had one day of 60 and one day of 59 this week, and the rest of the days were in the 50s. Streamflows are still normal to above normal, although partly that may be because they are releasing water from reservoirs, which would not normally occur now. There is no snow on the ground until 2000' above the valley floor, and high elevation snotels have 80-90% of normal SWE. However, water year precip is still normal to above because much fell as rain rather than snow. So, I'll split the difference between the extreme drought in the past month, and the near to above normal precip this fall, and call it moderately dry.
