Station Number: MI-AN-25
Station Name: Plainwell 0.5 WSW
Report Date: 2/8/2026
Submitted: 2/08/2026 8:55 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Our conditions this week were Near Normal with 0.14" of precipitation falling over 4 days as 1.5" of snow. The week had a snowpack ranging from 10" to 9". Daily high temperatures this week were below seasonal average getting to the mid-twenties(F) on all days except Friday when it got as high as 33F. Many birds have been seen daily at our bird-feeder and water bath, and many waterfowl are still seen on the open waters of the river, one late afternoon I saw 50-100 Canadian geese flying low over our house towards the river. The Kalamazoo river is still mostly open except for a lots of ice that is forming around islands and slower channels. The ice on the local millrace has largely broken up since last week and is now flowing lower again, though the local river walk still has about 6" of ice remaining over some low spots, from when it was flooding the last couple of weeks.
