Week of (2/1/26-2/7/26) observed less precipitation compared to last week. The precipitation observed during this week was 0.14 inches of precipitation. The amount of precipitation measured was less than the last update of 0.82 inches of precipitation for the previous week of (1/25/26-1/31/26). There was 0.14 inches of precipitation that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 for the month of February compared to the normal climatology precipitation at KROC airport for the month is 0.51 inches of precipitation. There was 8.2 inches of snowfall measured for the week of 2/1/26-2/7/26. There was 8.2 inches of snowfall that was recorded at station NY-MR-89 so far for the month of February compared to the normal climatology snowfall at KROC airport for the month is 5.9 inches. Conditions have remained the same since the last update from last week with the area seeing some beneficial and measurable precipitation in the form of frozen snowfall over this past week. The area is currently considered moderately dry (Moderate Drought) which has remained the same (unchanged) since the last update due despite the area receiving beneficial snowfall and frozen precipitation. The sump pump has stopped pumping periodically due to the ground becoming frozen due to very cold due to very cold arctic air invading the environment the later this week and this very cold air is not allowing the frozen precipitation sitting on the ground (near a foot of snowpack currently on the ground) to melt and infiltrate into the ground. Evergreen plants such as Boxwoods and the Red Twig Dogwood along with Arborvitae shrubs in the backyard are doing OK due to some beneficial snow falling this week. Outdoor activities and shoveling snow have been very limited due to dangerous windchill values and very cold sub-zero temperatures invading the environment that had started later this week (Friday night) that can lead to frost-bite with any uncovered and exposed skin. Furnace has been working overtime heating the house due to the very cold and well below average temperatures (sub-zero at times after Friday night) the area has been experiencing over the past couple of weeks. So far, February’s precipitation is currently below average and snowfall currently is above average.
