Station Number: CAN-NS-182
Station Name: Glen Haven 0.4 WSW
Report Date: 2/7/2026
Submitted: 2/07/2026 8:17 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
For week of 01-07 Feb: (17.0+ 5.0+ 0+ T+ 2.0+ 0+ T)= 24.0mm+ T. Mildly Wet. High's: -4C, WCh -10C to +3C; Low's: -2C to -14C; Wind: calm to NNW gusts to 47km/hr; Frost: 1 heavy frost. This week was a mixed bag for snowfall, with one Special Weather Statement for snow. We had fine, powdery snow and gentle big flake snow. The fine snow came with plenty of wind, whereas the big flake snow was a steady gentle snowfall all day, no wind. SOG is now at 22.0cm, with ice at the base, then snow, with a crusty surface. With any mild day, the SOG compresses, gets slippery to walk on. Residual re-freezes overnight resulting in patchy ice. Wildlife gets through it. Tracks a plenty--deer, rabbits, and a small one, maybe a shrew. Have not spied the fox. Outdoor rec is what you make it, given the fluctuating temps. On bare roads, I've seen walkers, cyclists, dog walkers. For more snow, go inland. For anything ice-related, head to the local community arena, or curling rink. Or, if you're like us, just do another required repair on an aging snowblower (20 yrs now), give it lots of TLC, and keep on going.
