Description:
Water levels appear to be normal. Weather has been unusually cold for several weeks now. Snowpack is substantial after the 18" two day storm on 1/26 & 1/27. Deer have been very active as evidenced by an abundance of tracks and activity around bird feeders and landscape shrubs. All lakes and ponds are frozen with heavy ice fishing activity. Waterfalls and smaller streams are frozen. A large waterfall on the Cocheco River in Dover is frozen along with portions of the river. A bit north of here, the ice runway in Alton Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee opened recently. Forecasts call for colder than normal temperatures to continue for the remainder of the month with a significant warm up at the beginning of March.
