Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: SC-BF-23
Station Name: Daufuskie Island 1.7 SW
Report Date: 4/24/2017
Submitted: 4/24/2017 9:35 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
A low pressure system is woking through our region and quiet, brief rain showers began around mid-night last night but by 06:00 AM this morning that rainmaker was apparently out of here. That only gave us 0.13” Rain.. and it’s only rained on three days this month.. (1.73”) so it’s getting rather dry. So much for April showers.

Shrimping season opened last Thursday but that is a dead industry and only one shrimp boat was seen out in the sound. Imported pond raised shrimp drove the price so low it’s not cost effective to run a big-rig shrimp boat anymore.

Tourism is impressive and everyone is talking about the traffic and how busy all four restaurants are. This prolonged period of fine weather helps a lot too.

I’m having to water our garden every other day to keep things green. It looks like that will continue on for a while. Magnolias are blooming and that’s always a treat. The bees like them too. The heat is building and the sweat is starting.. Me thinks it’ll be a long, hot, dry summer.. That’s it for this week.
