Description:
For week of 25-31 Jan: (0+ 10.6+ 6.2+ 0+ 0+ 0+ 0)= 16.8mm SWE Normal. High's: -13C, WCh -20C to -6C, WCh -12C; Low's: -15C to -18C, WCh -24C; Frost: 4 consecutive frosts; 3 were heavy, 1 is med crystalline. Its been a COLD week. Much wind, both N and W. The snow that fell was dry and powdery, light as a feather. No problem to shovel, but blows with the slightest wind. Many drifts. One snow clearing does not last long. This very fine snow is unusual for here; comes with the unusually cold air. We've had a few snow days due to road conditions, poor visibility. No melting this week, too cold. The inlet is fully frozen. A few deer have come through looking for food. They go to great lengths to get tree Lichen, which is plentiful on dying trees. Not many crows. Any animal tracks have been wind blown. It is now a bit light out by 0700. No more flashlight! Yay. And to cap off, we are under yet another SWSt (3rd this mth) for Sun/Mon, for more snow/wind. And to think back at the start of Jan, I wondered, will we get any snow? Careful what you ponder on!
