It was a normal week in January, we enjoyed a January thaw which has been missing for several years because it hasn't been cold enough to create a deep freeze. After several weeks of freezing temps, even during daylight, temps in the 30s were pleasant. It was relatively dry with only 0.38", but melting snowpack likely helped keep soil moisture from drying out much.
This coming week is forecast to go back to below average temps. Perhaps a little snow too. The birds, squirrels and rabbits continue to forage around. The snow will help keep the local ski hill in business. Of course, freezing temps help with snow-making too. Normal conditions for January.
