For the week ending 1/18/2026, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 0.79 inches was 1% above the 13-year (2009-2022) average of 0.78 inches and in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 3.77 inches was 10% above the expected 13-year average of 3.42 inches and in the “near normal” range; and the 90-day total of 9.21 inches was 10% below the expected 13-year average of 10.25 inches and in the “mildly dry” range. There were 4 days of measurable precipitation, with a maximum of 0.60 inches on the 15th (all from snow). There were 4 days of Snowfall (total of 12.8 inches, max of 9.5 inches on the 15th) & 5 days of Snowpack (average of 6.0 inches). Temps ranged from 51 F (on the 13th) to 11 F (on the 18th), with average Hi/Lo temps of 47/32 F (-10/-11 relative to last week). Precipitation Trends—January-to-Date Totals: 1.29 inches (down 0.48 inches, 73% of PRISM Normal). Winter Conditions (November 1-to-Date)—New Snow on 25 days, with total of 49.6 inches (vs 17-year averages of 19 days and 36.2 inches); Snow Pack on 43 days, with average daily depth of 4.5 inches (vs 17-year averages of 29 days and 5.3 inches). In marked contrast to last week’s spring-like weather, winter returned to the area this week with a vengeance, with dangerous driving conditions early in the week. A small group of Hooded Mergansers returned to Crescent Lake one day this week, but for the most part the lake has been frozen. Two American Robins visited our heated bird bath this morning, one of the coldest days of the winter to date.
