Station Number: MN-HN-128
Station Name: Robbinsdale 0.6 SSE
Report Date: 1/18/2026
Submitted: 1/18/2026 8:16 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
A somewhat Balmy 3-day January Thaw kicked off the week and decreased the Snowpack by 3”, leaving a lot puddling on the streets. It has now reached the hard, crusty bottom half, which has been increasingly hard to collect a core, and is much more stubborn at melting. My nearby lake had open water showing a ways out from shore. That’s a little concerning as there’s supposed to be an ice fishing event for kids this coming Monday. After the Thaw the Temp took a dive into the single digits, where it has mostly remained and brought in Gusty Winds, a roughly 24-hour set of Snow Showers bringing 1-1/2” with continued Blowing Snow. The lake has since frozen over again, but I’m unsure how thick it will become.
Forecast: A typical Cold and uneventful January week as Temps will slowly drop from the low teens to sub-zero. More random Show Showers today, then Mostly Cloudy skies, Winds calming through the week and no Precipitation expected.
