Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
For week 1/11-1/17 2026 Whelp, that was an interesting snow event yesterday until today. The snow that would never seem to stop finally did in the early afternoon 1 pm yesterday. Snowing again this Sunday a.m. from overnight and going to snow later on too as I see snow on the radar over North Dakota and Minnesota. Then it will get very cold for a couple of days. The readings I take this this a.m. go into next weeks report. -----

This was an active snow week up here in the great white north as we received 7.2" of snow for this week (collected another 1/2" during Saturday that will be in Sunday's readings) and .95" in water content---We have on the average 16" of snow on the ground. The snowbanks are roughly 4' high along the roads in town here and I have drifts over 20" high----We are now in the mildly dry sector but on the border of moderate where I am located according to the U.S. Drought map----USGS wild fire risk for the Upper Peninsula of MI and all of WI is very low.-----

Loggers and snow plows (the county commercial type and personal pick up trucks) on the road in large volumes over this week and very, very noticeable.-----

Deer are frolicking in the field a block away all week and run into the woods as the snowmobiles scoot by and then return as if nothing has happened. The deer look very nourished and healthy.-----
Birds seem to be doing well with a large number flying around in flocks and as solos eating berries off the neighboring bushes and out of my feeder. Eagle and an Osprey have been busy flying up and down the river this week as well and some ducks too.-----

Temperatures have been mild for this time of year and grateful for it and am sure the birds and animals are too. Again, Monday 1/19 and 1/20 are supposed to be super cold. Already have my vehicles prepared for these upcoming 2 days. -----Have a great week out there.-------
