The irrigation ponds are mostly empty. The large swamp partly occupying 17-acres on my land is almost dry; you can cross it in several places without getting your feet wet. I have owned this land for just over 11 years and have never seen it this dry. Older timers here say they use to bass fish the swamp when it was a lake (called a 'bay' around here) in the 50's and 60's. Then again, they used to grow oranges here and now it is too cold overwinter for them.
