Station Number: ID-AD-9
Station Name: Boise 2.1 NNE
Report Date: 1/12/2026
Submitted: 1/12/2026 7:40 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
January 4-12 2026: A total of 0.42 inches of rain measured on Jan. 4-8, then dry as a high pressure system settles in over the area. Five days of small amounts of rain each day and unusually warm days and nights changing to 4 days with no rain and normal cool (20's overnight, lower 40's daytime highs). Some days have overcast and filtered sunshine during the daytime and some days have bright sunshine most of the day. Strong gusty winds as the weather patterns changed, now calm and increasing air stagnation. Some snow being deposited in higher elevations, enough to open most ski areas with some snow-making help. Current colder overnight temps are not low enough to kill winter hardy plants in the gardens. Birds and other wildlife are very busy searching for food. Water managers are beginning to be concerned about very low current snowpacks in mountain areas. Higher than normal precipitation recently but much lower than normal snow accumulations.
