This week, the first migrating goldfinches arrived, and many local, mature cardinals from this spring’s hatch are visiting the feeding table, enjoying sunflower seeds mixed with wild bird seed. They are utilizing the fish pond for drinking.  The drainage ditches contain only grey water since we’ve had no rain in weeks.  Hummingbirds visited the sugar water feeders along with the beautiful blue hyacinths, which are in bloom.  Love bugs in January!!! They just hatched on Thursday.  A cold front is expected Saturday, with rain ahead of the front dropping about half an inch of needed rain.
