Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: RI-PR-135
Station Name: Pascoag 0.5 SSW
Report Date: 1/10/2026
Submitted: 1/10/2026 7:30 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Only 0.32” of gauge catch this week, but conditions remain near normal for early January. Freezing temperatures over the last few weeks has caused the Pascoag Reservoir to freeze over. Last Sunday the ice was thick enough for several ATVs to be out riding along the edges, but no ice fishermen were tempted to go out as there were likely still thin spots further out. Warm temperatures this week will likely melt a lot of the ice. There was a group of 4 Bald Eagles fishing at the edge of an open area in the ice this week. Quite the sight. Typical winter birds like crows, grackles, chickadees and blue jays have been busy as well. George Washington state park is posting Low for fire danger and the NIDIS website still shows no drought or abnormally dry areas in the state.
