Category D1 still remains as per email received from drought.gov on 1/1/2026.  No snow no rain, some areas around mulched sections of houses and the sidewalks show dampness.  I think that would indicate decent soil moisture from meltage, although I have no data to prove that just an observation.  Furnace running fine, space heater use sparse.  Increase in ash beetle stink bugs.  This could have been due to installing a Weather Station near the window area.  However, they are a common sometimes pest, about 5 of them.  So far.  Still have leaves on one of the trees.  Overall Mood-Weather Focus mostly on the Atmospheric River on the West Coast.  Impact on travel as a result.  Also, perhaps a chance of weather activity for Iowa later this week..:):).
