Ground is snow covered. Surface is frozen but NYS Mesonet readings at 2 inches statewide are just above freezing. Snow depth is generally decent for this time of year. There is some concern about the length of this cold period. It is less of a cold "dip" and more of a persistent cold season, so far. Mill road pond solidly frozen before recent snowfall. Hudson River frozen over, but choppy from ice floes. Birds’ active at the feeder and spring birds heard. Deer tracks seen frequently.
