How to start a new year...hot and dry! We ended 2025 with about a seven inch deficit from normal -- but only because of July floods. Really about ten+ inch shortfall, as almost no rain since that event. This week's record heat has left fire danger very high, and the gardens need constant attention and irrigation. Trees and grass is dormant, though no hard freeze has occurred. Local lakes are still at fairly good levels but slowly falling.
