In December, during a Blizzard Warning, what is the condition? I think it is probably near normal, but it's pretty hard to tell. Lots of wind, a fair amount of snow, and no travel advised.
Most wildlife and even barn cats are hunkered down waiting for better weather. Our local goats have taken shelter after coming out to eat. 
This will add to the snow that had melted in the last week or so, and help to keep tree and shrub roots insulated from cold temperatures.
