With .09" in the past week, combined with some warm, windy days, has resulted in a mildly dry condition for this time of year. Normally, yard mowing in late December would be impossible without tearing up the grass, but it is possible this year. For the month, rainfall total is 2.28", or 1.21" below normal. For the calendar year, it is 10.33" below normal, with no above normal months since July. Exposed soil in shaded areas is still moist, but not areas out in the open. Water that was standing in fields last week is now gone. Road ditches still have some water in them. Trails and farm paths that would normally have standing water in potholes are mostly dry now. Wheat looks good, but sage took a hit from the low in the teens a few weeks ago. Overwintering Siberian kale and garlic look good, with just a bit of frost bite on the kale.
