After 3 weeks of no rain, light rain fell today. It was enough to dappen the soil but not enough to create runoff or puddles. December precipitation so far is about 1/2 of the NOAA normal for December. The weather has been very warm this December with several record high temperatures. Some springtime plants and grasses are growing including dandelions. These might not survive the freezing temperatures which are expected Monday and Tuesday night. Our water supply is adequate. Water is flowing in the Rio Grande River. The local ski resort is closed due to warm weather and no snow. Critical fire weather conditions are not expected.
