Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-BN-19
Station Name: Belvidere 5.0 NNW
Report Date: 12/20/2025
Submitted: 12/20/2025 12:12 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Over the week I measured 0.15" of rain along with an occasional, brief snow flurry or two. Pretty much all the snow has melted-goodbye white Christmas- with about a half inch still in my front yard with more open areas generally bare. I didn't see much runoff at all, so it seems that most of the snow melt somehow made its way into the soil. That said, local waterways remain low and slow and the U.S. Drought Monitor continues to show this area in an abnormally dry drought. So mildly dry soil conditions remain. Trees and shrubs look about the same as last week although lawns that are now exposed appear largely green. So there is some color out there. We had a few more sunny days this week compared to last week but as fast as the weather is changing lately, cloudy days are sure to return. Been seeing different birds from the usual chickadees and juncos with some purple finches showing up along with a cardinal or two and some nuthatches. Saw a lot of deer tracks in the snow over the week and one set was surprisingly large. It would have been interesting to see the deer that made those tracks.
