Description:
General Awareness: 
Precipitation: 183.6 mm of precip in the last 13 days.  Precipitation for December-so-far is 143% of average. The water-year-so-far is 92% average, but 138% of this time-last year.  Although it snowed yesterday for the first time this season (while I was at work), it melted right away before I had a chance to measure it.  We have not yet received any measurable snow at our elevation (14.6 cm deficit from average).  
Weather Observations:  The weather has been consistently rainy with a few squalls and storms.  It has been cool.  A few days the sky has cleared after sunset.
Drought Monitoring Assessments:  Agriculture Canada’s most current Drought Map is from November 30th.  It has increased our drought level to D0 (abnormally dry). The Tsitika River flow volume is running at about its median value.  The Marble (255 m^3/s), Keogh (41.5 m^3/s) & Kingcome (253 m^3/s) rivers are running above their recorded maximum flow.  Wakeman River gauge seems to be offline. 
Business & Industry:
	Fishing: DFO (Tidal Area 12): Sockeye salmon & yelloweye rockfish are non-retention. Lingcod & other rockfish are closed.
Energy:
We have been running the electric heat & using the pellet stove.  From time to time, we are running a dehumidifier.  It has been too wet to use the clothes line.
Fire:
Burn Bans:  None
	Wildfire:  There are no fires in our region at this time.
Plants & Wildlife:
Seals & otters are in the harbour.  Juncos, blue heron, cormorants, crows, & eagles as usual.
Society & Public Health:  BCCDC reports (as of December 13) that influenza test positivity is increasing & children are showing high levels.  RSV test positivity is increasing (especially among children) but remains at a low-moderate level.  CoViD-19 test positivity is still decreasing and low.  As of December 18, the BCCDC reports no active measles cases within the Island Health Authority. 
Water Supply & Quality: Obswell 201 is at 6.4 m below the surface, which is below its average for the last 10 years.  The well levels have been rising since about October 19th, and have at times approached their averages.
