Our area continues under drought conditions. We dug a hole yesterday to replace a pole for a fence (18" depth). We have clay soil. The soil was dry with no clumping indicative of moisture at all. 
We have filled two seed feeders for the birds. The deer also take advantage of the seeds, as well as the Nandina and Japanese boxwood on the property.
