A little more snow during the week for insulating the hay crops. Cold temperatures sent frost into the ground, down 8" by the end of the week. Farmers worked with their livestock to keep them fed, watered, and out of the wind. Wildlife punched holes in ice and ate snow to get water. Many days they were near wooded areas for shelter. Deer grazed near dusk and after dark. Some turkeys were seen by day scratching in the snow trying to find corn and soybeans on the ground. Flocks of 8 to 12 birds were common. There wasn't enough snow in this area for snowmobiles, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing. There wasn't enough thick ice of ice fishing. Loggers were working on freezing down roads. Wildfire danger was low with the snow.
