Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NJ-MS-59
Station Name: Madison 0.8 WSW
Report Date: 12/15/2025
Submitted: 12/14/2025 8:35 PM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Thus far for my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;

There was one day with measurable precipitation and one day with trace precipitation for a total of 0.17”, the past seven days [Sunday-Sat]. River and stream volume the past week of this CMR maintained their rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station. As of Sunday morning, 12/14; one reduced its flow to 10% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station moving at a slow volume and with no turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west, interestingly increased its flow over its fall, covering about 35% of its respective fall and moving at a similar, volume with no turbidity. The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station remains closed for the season. The ground around this station is frozen. Grass and weeds remained dormant for the season. The Juvenal Oak’s continue to hold their 85% of their leaves. House Finch were an average active this week as evidenced by about 95% of the feeder was used since being filled for the first time this season 14 days ago. The same was refilled the evening of 12/14. No Crows or Ravins were observed the past seven days. Dark Eyed Juncos were observed beneath the feeder again in great numbers. Neighborhood squirrels were observed. The neighborhood Ginkgo trees that dropped their stinky fruits ten weeks ago, continue to hold their foul smell. The first Frost observation for this station, this season, was reported on October 10th. Since then; I have observed and reported a total of 17 days with frost, 2 additional the past week.

Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 2.66 inches of precipitation. There has been 127 days of precipitation the previous 338 days of CY2025 [1/1/2025 to 12/14/2025] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of
44.01”, compared to (again) 121 Precipitation Days” and a [CY] total of 52.53” the same [year to date] in CY2024. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 8.62” less precipitation than a year ago. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;
YTD2023- 52.48”
YTD2022- 43.57”
YTD2021- 53.27
YTD2020- 48.22”
YTD2019- 58.10”
YTD2018- 64.90”
YTD2017- 41.92”
YTD2016- 42.09”
YTD2015- 37.00”  (First full Year.)

The running ELEVEN year average reported precipitation for THIS station is: 48.91” inches, holding this station at a deficit of 4.90 less then the 11 (CY) year average and making this year to date, (still holding) the fifth driest year monitoring this station. Considering the eleven year annual comparable total for this station and less precipitation the past week, is why I believe that it is appropriate to maintain this week’s report on the “normal” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
