Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IA-LN-49
Station Name: Cedar Rapids 2.1 NW
Report Date: 12/14/2025
Submitted: 12/14/2025 3:31 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Still in D1 as per drought.gov. Trace of rain and snow then accumulating snow received this week. Some snowpack melted. Snow blower, shovel, and snow broom required. There are still some leaves on a tree in the backyard, they should be all fallen down by Christmas. A little slower for them to drop this year. Snow Event 12/13/2025. Sections of I-80 shut down due to car pile ups and dangerous weather travel conditions. Statistically 75% of wrecks occur with 2inches of snow. Received 2.1 at my station on the 13th. Following that, very low temps below freezing into negative air temps and higher wind chill values. In addition to the furnace, a couple of space heaters are currently being utilized. Overall Mood-Everyone trying to stay warm and doing a great job keeping up with snow clearing. Looking ahead, we have a warming trend forecasted this week so look forward to some snow melt. Stay WRN as melted snow turns into ice at night. The Sun is out today, what a great sight to see despite the cold.
