Continuing dry conditions have dropped water year to 84% of normal, with no significant rainfall in 25 days. River levels continue to drop and the drought map shows level D0 (abnormally dry) returning to Del Norte, western Siskiyou and northern Humboldt counties. Temperatures have been pleasant, with an average of 64F for high, and 44F for low. The recreational Dungeness crab season opened this past Friday for waters between the California/Oregon border and Reading Rock, and from Cape Mendocino to the Mendocino/Sonoma county line. Prescribed burns continue, adding smoke haze to the otherwise clear, sunny days. The acacia trees are setting their flowering formations, but from 15 years of records they won't bloom until January 20th.
